In the washing process, water is one of the most important parameters, alongside electricity and detergent. The costs associated with water are reflected in the variable costs per wash. It is therefore essential that these costs are kept as low as possible and are manageable.
Legislation, through the Activities Decree effective January 1, 2008, has established requirements for wastewater treatment at car washes. A sludge trap, oil/gasoline separator, and inspection pit must be installed in accordance with EN 858. Savona can perform a capacity calculation for any situation and supply approved systems.
A so-called “fresh water” connection is generally used as the water supply for a self-service car wash. This water contains, among other things, calcium and magnesium salts (indicated as the water hardness in d°H) and varies across the country. Savona installs a water softening system as standard in every setup.
However, to achieve truly spot-free drying, the water is filtered through a special membrane technology after it has been softened. We call this equipment a reverse osmosis system. This so-called osmosis water is only sprayed during the “Spot-Free Rinsing” program. If rinsed carefully with this water, wiping is unnecessary.
Savona has been the official importer of Verwater water recycling systems since 2013. These systems are primarily used in roll-over car washes, car wash tunnels, and, of course, the new Savona Autodoes®.
